Johan Parish of House Telraed was a talented inventory who lived most of his life on the island of Foriedy. Parish is attributed with the invention of gunpowder, but was best known for the paper lanterns that he sold on Foriedy, utilizing the phosphorescent algae found in the surround reefs to create a renewable, flame-less source of light.

Parish had a penchant for seeing the talents possessed by others. He was quick to fund the expeditions and adventures of those who possessed drive and determination.
