Nathan Cannigan
Nathan Cannigan was a psion who helped slow the progress of Saba Enas. He was quite unsure of himself, and often had doubts about his ability to support the team. He became fast friends with his companions, and eventually became lovers with Anze.
As a psion, his powers were quite volatile. This allowing him to dispatch extremely dangerous foes. The traveling bard Zook wrote that Nathan killed a Beholder with the wave of a hand, turning the creature dust. Nathan's rapid progression of powers made him unstable, a threat to both friend and foe. Attempts were made to limit his powers by placing him under the effects of a Surgeon Mask, a headpiece used by the Imperial Templar of Naltronia to control emotion and ensure the obedience of powerful psions. The mask failed to act as a proper defense against his powers when Anastaya, Paladin of Estridae removed it, fearing that it was changing him. The result was devastating.
Nathan was overwhelmed by his own power after the mask was removed. The energy threatened to consume him, and he lashed out at those around him to try to exhaust it. His companions fought back to protect themselves and finally, with no other options, his lover Anze was forced to kill him by snapping his neck.
Nathan was buried at sea, given unto Zamikeye to rest better than he had in life.
Nathan and Anze had a daughter together; Myriam Cannigan.
