Burning Eternities

The Burning Eternities are part of the Abyss, and are best know by their common name, the Nine Hells. The Eternities consist of scattered pockets of order that crop up within the chaos of the Abyss. Each of these pocket regions attracts demons who are of ordered mind and prefer structure to constant battle. These demons are known as Devils. Devils are the most lawful of demons and will typically honor any deals or contracts that are made with them. They are responsible for dolling out punishment upon the damned who are sent to the eternities for punishment of their sins.

The peoples of Saratta believe that the Eternities are broken into 9 sections, hence the Nine Hells. According to the Church of Glory and a wide majority of the other organized religions of Saratta, each level is a place of punishment based upon the sins committed in life. For example, the lustful go to a different level than the murders, and so forth. In reality those who bore great sin in life will find themselves in any one of the many pockets that make up the Eternities. Their punishment is to spend a life of agony at the hands of the lesser demons that roam the plane or find themselves at the mercy of a Realm Prince.
