CampaignThe Captain's Log

Gavin Endili is Captain and owner of The Barracuda, a sailing ship that operates in the Ordinth Caphil region. He recorded many of his crews adventures within The Captain's Log. He is a [[Human, Jospei|Traveler] and prefers to be on the move as opposed to spending time in one place for any length of time. Interactions with the Captain give the impression that he is prone to indecision, but Gavin is very conscientious when it comes to his crew. He tries to lead them as a family unit as opposed to the rigid hierarchies found under military vessels, and even other traders. He prefers to let troubles sort themselves out rather than resort to heavy handed punishments.

He is quick to trust others, but is also quick to develops stereotypes of other peoples based on his interactions with them (good and bad). He finds comfort in small oddities and knicknacks. Things that others might pass up often catch his eye. Gavin believes strongly in the spirits within objects and peoples. He does not dedicate himself to any of the Gods.

History

Gavin is the son of Norah and Elias Endili. He has 2 blood related siblings (Devan and Danielle "Danny". Additionally, he has 3 adopted sisters (Myrel "Mirri" - Elf, Ulgra "Kari" - Orc, and Chandrelle "Sandy" - Human). He and his siblings were raised in typical Jospei fashion, 'traded' fluidly between flotillas to ensure that they gained the skills necessary to help the family as they grew up. His best friend during those days was Brooke Reccer, to whom he was betrothed.

It was during Gavin's rite of passage to adulthood that his life suddenly went awry. Brooke joined him during the trial, something she was not supposed to do. Resigning himself to making sure she would be safe, Gavin joined Brooke in exploring the island his trial was taking place on. What they found was a group of pirates, up to no good. They hoped to sow confusion in the pirate crew from afar, but the attempt quickly went south. The pirates found their way to the Jospei flotilla. They torched his father's ship and killed is brother Devan before departing. Spurred by anger, Gavin took a rowboat to try to catch up to the moored pirate vessel before it set sail. He was too late and quickly became caught in the ocean currents. Without a means for his family to find him, Gavin was at the mercy of the ocean spirits. He must have been favored; after almost a week of drifting Gavin, delirious from dehydration, was found and picked up by a small cargo ship called The Sly Magpie.

Gavin and the ships captain became quick friends and a year would pass without any opportunity to try to find his way home. The captain of the Sly Magpie died from injuries received when pirates attacked the ship. He gifted Gavin his tricorn hat, which Gavin still has to this day.
