Soulbow, a Psychic Metacreativity Archer

A branch of psionics that is relatively unknown are the Soulknives. Rare in even that category is the Soulbow of which Nyso is classified. Nyso is able to psychically create materials in which to use whether it is for combat or shelter. Nyso is adept at creating tools for the job (although, he is not very good at making complex tools) in whichever material is needed by only concentrating on bringing it into being. These tools only last a short time, which is dramatically shorter when Nyso is no longer in contact with these tools. While unable to become a true manifestor due to his gender in Saratta, he has found many focused and specialized ways to prove useful to attain his own personal goals. His unnatural speed and ability to sense intelligent life around him for example are inherently psychic while true Psions are rarely capable of such feats.

In combat Nyso creates arrows to hurl telekentically in combat. He often masks this by creating a Great Bow in which it appears he shoots these arrows in order to not look as suspicious. His skill with these arrows is difficult to match, as with a night's rest Nyso can change the properties on his arrows to match the next day's troubles. Capable of fantastically accurate single shots, deadly hails of arrows, or even the tricky Manyshot trick his mind arrows serve him well. Nyso is a capable of fighter in melee as well, but is likely better attuned to ranged combat given his general frailty when lacking his psychic shield. Whether in combat as a primary Archer or out of combat as the man with unlimited tools, Nyso the Soulbow is always ready for a new challenge.

Appearance

Nyso is a rather tall looking humanoid with brown robes. His robe has a hood covering the majority of his brown hair, but the the light on his face shows a young but mildly scarred face. Over his pale white skin a few lengthy scars can be seen around his face, one of which circle his left eye. Those eyes are a deep forest green that sit atop the smooth and well toned face. He isn't particularly clean, with smudges of dirt all around his face and clothes. He seems to have no significant possessions but a walking stick, the brown robes, and a few very light sacks tied to his waist with a simple robe.

Guard Duty in Gildale

Nyso is unique among the guards in Gildale in that he doesn't wear the standard armor or use the standard short sword. He has always walked around with brown hooded robes with the guard insignia laid out on in front, with just a wooden oak quarterstaff, a bolas or two, and a bag of wooden oak shurikens. In fact, little is known about Nyso other that he shows up for work duty, enjoys assignments in the woods out of the city, and seems to be mortally afraid of good looking women. He is fast, athletic, and agile but has never shown much aptitude for anything supernatural.

That is until the eve of the necrotic elemental that encroached on Gildale. Throughout the investigation of the flaming bunny rabbits or seeking out the hermetic magic hermit, the only skills Nyso had shown were the ability to catch falling gnomes and mock naked wizards crossing a river. Nyso knew he was outclassed when the supernatural being came to be outside of town. The guards of Gildale would have trouble with troupe of goblins... but a supernatural creature capable of evaporating the organic matter around it seemed a bit too much. Requiring the aid of the seasoned adventurers that passed through the town recently to even have a chance, they waited several days for their return. Unable to wait any longer, the guards had no choice but to at least delay the creature and charged in with all the magic aid from the town as they could muster up.

While they clashed with the being, something seemed to change inside Nyso's mind. He dropped his wooden shurikens and put his hands up with extended arms to fire white darts of energy with a wispy black outline at the creature. Of course, the creature still by far overpowered Nyso and the rest of the guard, and Nyso fell ill to some of its powerful poisons and collapsed as the adventurers had returned in the nick of time to save them. As Nyso laid unconscious on the victorious battlefield his hands began to glow with the same light of the darts he had fired before. Emanating from his hands, a white light with a wispy, possibly shadowy black outline was breathing a soft, warm, inspiring glow of illumination out to a few feet.

Upon waking up, Nyso had no memory of what he had just done. It had also seemed the party did not fully catch what happened either. No one knew what Nyso was capable of. During a few of the conversations, Nyso had the uncanny ability to pull out a duplicate of what was being concentrated on. It seemed Nyso's glowing hands and unplanned conjurations concerned the party a bit, but not enough to be more then just watched. Soon Nyso was with the party chasing down the missing mayor's daughter.

After reaching the top of a steep forested cliff, Nyso and the party began to hear a mysteriously loud roar. Looking through the brush of the forest, they saw the missing mayor's daughter strung up to a post and being held by a single man. With another roaring sound, Nyso didn't even think about what he did next. His hand extended a bolt of energy shot out and scared the man into the bushes. Nyso ran forward towards the girl as a dragon swooped around ready to snatch her. A shimmering green blade appeared in Nyso's hand and he jumped at the post to cut the girl down. Successfully hacking off the ropes Nyso rejoiced for a but a moment ready to catch the girl, only to see in his horror the dragon's claws grasp onto the girl and the girl's eyes to glow an eerie orange light. Knocked down from the wind of the encounter, Nyso was only just grazed by the dragon's claw as she departed with the girl. With a small trickle of blood on his nose, he rejoined the party and they headed toward the temple where the rest of the party was located.

Once reaching the party he found the witch cult had been stopped, but perhaps they were in error. The cult leader explained about the girl being the daughter of the dragon, the mayor being incredibly corrupt, and the routine sacrifices of the town populace to keep the town safe. What would Nyso and the party do about this horrible, horrible situation? Has Nyso realized he just conjured more bolts of energy, and even a blade?

Through the toils Nyso and the party had solved the problems by giving the Mayor to the dragon and saving the town. Once Gildale was safe, Nyso had realized it was no longer where he wanted to be. The action and good he did needed to be continued elsewhere. He needed to explore his new powers. Thus, he set out with the group of adventurers and set out with a newfound Wyrm dragon friend.
