Summary

Lord Savant Arden Krueler is a Tower Mage on an extended sabbatical. Krueler at his core is a scholar, he has always had a love of learning and study. When he joined the Tower he set that love to the task of learning the art of conjuration, and is now a highly skilled Conjurer with an extended knowledge of The Planes. Focused study and hard work has placed Arden Krueler in high rankings among the Tower wizards. His high ranking position in the Tower allows for Krueler to study some of the most ancient and potentially dangerous texts that the Tower has to offer. Aside from his love of magic and the study of the Conjuration arts, Krueler also has an interest in military history and tactics. Something he picked up from his military tutelage as a child.

Early Life

Kruler's father was a military tactician and officer, and his mother was a master of armaments. Thus Arden Krueler was born into a military life that he would be ill suited for, not due to lack of strength or ability, but due to lack of passion for war craft.

"My father told me when I was young that being a Krueler meant never being in short supply of spirit or drive. He said that even when things are at their bleakest, a Krueler will pull through to the end. I was fairly sure I knew what he meant, but I feared the day I would have to prove his words to myself." - The Collected Writings of Lord Savant Arden Krueler - Volume I

Krueler's family traveled often during his earliest years. He was taught by his mother and by camp scribes, and when he become old enough to wield a sword, he was trained by his father and learned from watching the training grounds in the evenings. When Krueler was 12, his mother was pregnant with another child. Tragically, Krueler's mother died during child birth, and the baby died days after due to complications. His father dealt with his sadness as most soldiers do, stoically or away from prying eyes. Things changed little in Arden Krueler's young life. He traveled with his father and the officer core, inspecting troop garrisons and supervising training grounds. His father had hoped his son would follow in his foot steps and join the military, follow the families history of courage and honor on the fields of battle. His father had the military trainers run his son through exercises and training courses when he got older, trying to strength the boy and give him the focus needed for a military life. The rigorous schedule and over bearing trainers began to make him aloof. The young Krueler really found his passion and drive while watching the duel of two Battle Mages one evening. Krueler had read about those that could turn the elements to their will, but seeing it first hand was something all together different.

"I had never seen such a thing before, fire being handled like mud in the hands of a master potter, ice being pulled from the very air, lightning being called down for a clear blue sky. My mind was set, I would one day wield such power. Oh how young I was... fascinated by mere elements of nature when there was a whole planescape of powers yet undiscovered." - The Collected Writings of Lord Savant Arden Krueler - Volume I

At first his father was less then pleased that his son didn't want to be a soldier or an officer like him, but the passion that he showed for the study of magic was undeniable. He eventually consented to his son's wishes and made use of his contacts to get his young son into the Mage's Tower and placed under the tutelage of the Tower's greatest minds.

Arden Krueler became the first in his family line to for go the sword and to study magic.

Tower Mage

His first few years behind the tall stone walls of the Tower Academy were spent learning the basics of magic. Many hours of study were spent on understanding the theory of manipulating the ebbs and flows of magic energy. Then came the rites and rituals that all wizards must learn to accomplish even the most basic of magic spells. Some study was even dedicated to learning the traits and abilities of magical creatures that manipulated magic in a natural state.

When the training began to divide the studies into the different schools of spell casting. Krueler's initial passion for the power he witnessed on the training fields all those years ago, started to wain. Arden found himself being mesmerized by the powers of the Conjurer more then any he had seen before. He became fixated and driven at that point, he wished to learn more about the planes, and all the other worldly wonders that they held. Everything he did for the next few years revolved around the many diffrent aspects of conjuration. His studies of other magic schools suffered some, but that was to be expected of any mage who focused themselves in any one school. It was soon obvious that he would become an extremely proficient summoner. His teachers encouraged him to continue his studies in conjuration, and the Savant in charge of the Conjuration department once jested that Krueler would one day hold her position for all his dedicated study.

What follows is a series of excerpts from those writings, including some notes found among Arden Krueler's personally possessions after his leave from the Tower of Mages for reasons of mental health and wellness.

The full collect of Writings can be found with Lord Savant Sandra Presk of the Adjurations Office for reasons of possible magical corruption.
