Overview

Aldemon once held status as a Great House of Foriedy but lost that status after the events that transpired as a result of the Red Ransom. At it’s peak, the house was responsible for protecting much of the lower docks. Dock workers and inspectors found easy employment, and sellswords and adventurers alike could collect bounties and missions through the house. Aldemon flags were hung proudly from the city walls for all to see, greeting travellers as they entered and seeing them off as they left.

Times have changed since those glory days, and now House Aldemon struggles to maintain the influence and network that they once had. Dock inspectors can still find employment, but the pay is far less, and Laborers Guilds no longer receive the benefits that once kept them loyal. Even much of the Aldemon family departed, seeing little left for them when the Consulate stripped them of Great House status. They set sail for the seas and took up refuge in the villages of nearby Na Ahn Hee where they ascended to positions of leadership that barely hint at the power they formerly held.

Not all of Aldemon collapsed, and some of the family chose to stay. Some could not afford to leave and others felt it was their duty to clean up the mess that they had created. Whatever the official argument, Lharana Aldemon came out on top and resecured the House’s Consulate seat. Despite their drop in status, house Aldemon pledged to ramp up efforts to restore their holdings. Today the continue to maintain Foriedy’s Lower District Watch and the Inspector’s Guild. They overcome one hurdle at a time, and tackle corruption wherever it may be found.

It is well known to the people of Foriedy that Aldemon feuds with House Xemnon, especially over matters of the City Watch. The Lower District Watch and the Spire Guard interact poorly with one another. In times of civil unrest, the Spire Guard is typically slow to act if there is trouble in the Lower District, but they always show up just before things get too out of hand. For their part, House Aldemon has done the best they can with what they have, and little by little appear to be gaining back what was lost despite the occasional black eye.

History:

House Aldemon was officially dissolved by unanimous vote in the council on the 9th of Whitefall, 1009LD. This judgement came following the events that lead up to and took place during the Gillstan Massacre of 1009LD. House Aldemon’s ability to maintain security in the dockside was determined to be an unacceptable risk and blame for damages were placed squarely on their shoulders.

The council determined in conjunction with Justice Finwick Lex that all remaining House assets would be sold off to pay for damages. Primary duties including guard positions and the Port Authority were turned over to House Xemnon. Tax collection duties were assumed by House Folswell.
