Empress Melody Tilson

Born in 996 LD, Melody ascended to the Imperial throne of Naltronia at the age of 14, the last surviving member of the Tilson bloodline. She was crowned Empress by the Eyes of Litamoria at the Citadel in Ausburg, 12th of Dawntide, 1008 LD. Melody commands respectable psionic ability and was undertaking military training prior to taking the throne. It had been the intention of her father that she would one day serve as an Eye of Litamoria.

Inheriting an Empire

Melody inherited an Empire that was in shambles. The war with Arambashia had devastated Imperial forces, and just as one threat ended, new ones rose. A Coup was staged against Emperor Godrick Tilson, lead by one of his more trusted advisers, the psion Mardock Kales. Kales was successful in killing off the remaining Tilson bloodline, in addition to disposing or mentally dominating those who had been loyal to the throne. The Emperor had ordered a strategic retreat to Ausburg as the situation deteriorated, using secret passages and tunnels to flee from the city along with Melody while guarded by the Eyes. Shortly after they were out of the city, a massive psychic barrier encompassed the city preventing them from returning and trapping everyone inside.

The betrayal could not have come at a worse time. The Gnolls of Naltrim had banded together years earlier and begun assaulting Naltronian fortifications. The Gnoll threat was steadily growing, turning their attention to the nations breadbasket of Pengrad. Hours before the Empress's coronation, she would learn that Pengrad had fallen to Gnoll forces.
