The Glory Seekers of Gildale is an adventure that focuses on the what it is like to be a guard in Saratta. The game centers around the guardsmen of a small village in Mishar known as Gildale. Gildale is far from any other sources of civilization. It lies North of Gnimshaw about 14 days Northwest of the Ghalas Crossroads, and then another 7 days both directions to the neared villages. In the winter, Gildale is all but cut off from the rest of the world. By the summer it is a place of trade, where the wealthy send their gold for masterful artistry.

When I concepted the idea of a guard game, I wanted it to reflect the sometimes hopeless situations that town guards are thrown into. Most often in Roleplaying Games a group of Adventurers intervene to save a town, but what about the village that doesn't have easy access to help? They try what they can to get that help, but when it doesn't arrive there is noone else to turn to. The Guards must rise up and do something about it.

Protecting the town from kobolds and giant rats are things that guards often hire out as tasks to aspiring adventurers. So just what is it then that the guard must do? Routing patrols of town to deal with countless domestic issues, breaking up fights or preventing them before they can start, acting as the hand of justice in town, just to name a few. Guards serve higher purposes in towns than extermination. Upholding the law is a difficult task; one that only becomes harder when the world threatens to turn against you at a moments notice.
