The Mavrick was constructed in a Xemnon shipyard to serve as a guardian vessel for convoys. It was captured by pirates not long after its maiden voyage by Captain Izra Zog. Captain Zog attacked a ship known as the Debtless in an effort to capture one of the ship's crew who had a large bounty placed on his head by the Pirate King. His attempt failed, costing his life and the liberated Mavrick fell into the hands of the Debtless and her crew. It was later returned to House Xemnon by Captain Endili where it has since been refitted for trade. The Mavrick is presently captained by Orcish captain Chance Gorluck.

Date of Construction: 1007 LD

Campaign/Adventure: The Captain's Log

Unique Alterations:

- Broad Rudder: Grants a +1 bonus to sailing checks.

- Narrow Hull: Decreases the ships width by 20% at the expense of -10% cargo capacity. Grants a +2 bonus to sailing checks.

- Sturdy Hull: Reinforced layers of wood and additional supports increase the ships hardness by 2 as well as its Hit Points by 5%. This is done at the expense of cargo capacity.

- Extended Keel: Grants a +1 bonus to sailing checks.

- Removable Ram: The front of the ship is outfitted with a heavy steel ram. The vessel was designed so that the ram could be removed or sheathed as needed in order to maintain aerodynamics when sailing.

- Goblin Combustion Engine: While a potentially volatile addition to any ship, a GCE greatly increases a ships short term acceleration (+20) and overall speed (+20ft). The engine requires at least 6 skilled technicians to operating it without risking potential failure of the machines fine-tuned parts. It can run for approximately 10 minutes at a time and is best used as a means to rapidly catch or escape from enemy vessels. The engine takes up a large amount of space reducing carrying capacity by 20%. It can be removed by a skilled ship builder though additional repairs will be needed to the ships structure upon removal.

Approximate Ship's Value: 21,500gp

Associated Costs: Upkeep: 40gp/month. The Mavrick's GCE requires constant mechanical repairs and tuning in order to remain at optimum efficiency and prevent it from breaking down completely.

Travel Cost: Varies based on the number of people sailing. See Chart
