Verdis
Summary
Verdis was the primary villain of Coils of the Silver Tongue. He allowed nothing to stand in the way of his goals, and delighted in placing the guilt of his actions upon the shoulders of others. At one point he hung several villagers off a bridge, carving the words 'Their deaths are your fault. Come, try to stop me. Perhaps in the future those like them will survive.' into their flesh. To make matters worse, the Othar scalped his victims, using their hair as wigs to "blend in" with local populations.
A group of adventurers encountered Verdis while trying to clean up the actions of the rogue paladin Glaron Unterspike. Unterspike mistakenly damaged a Glyph of Keeping within an aged mansion in the town of Hale, believing that it would rid them of spirits that haunted the place. The "spirits" were part of an experiment gone awry, performed by a secret Naltronian organization called VERSE. One member of the experiments, Kendra O'lies inscribed the glyph to prevent Kurt "The Butcher" Vidden from escaping further from the projects confines. Little did she know that Kurt was not the real issue.
Trapped within the house with them, Verdis sat biding his time, and using his Silver Tongue ability to bend those imprisoned with him to his will. Incredibly persuasive even without his unique ability, he reveled in the chaos that he could cause. Once Glaron Unterspike entered the picture, it was easy pickings.
