Owner and caretaker of Parish Manor on the island of Foriedy. Miranda was born in 949 LD during the month of Sunreign. She is no stranger to the hard life, and is always willing to give someone down and out a chance at a new life. Miranda is calm and patient, well loved by those she employs or calls friend. People say she is rarely angered, but can be a sight to behold when she is.
She grew up on the dockside, tending taverns and cleaning Inns as soon as she could hold a broom. She was married off when she was 16, to a sailor/tradesman. The mans family cast her back out onto the streets for failing to produce a child only 2 years later. She moved from job to job after that, until a chance encounter with an entertainers guild tied to House Telraed offered her a job in the upper districts.
Several years later, she met Johan Parish at the Waterseek Pub where Parish offered her work at his newly made paper lantern shop. She turned down the offer, but had piqued his interest. The two eventually formed a partnership together that made them husband and wife in all but name. Miranda's former encounter with marriage had soured the appeal, and Parish quite agreed.
After Parish's death, Miranda officially took control of the estate but honored Jon's Will, allowing the crew of The Captain's Log to maintain residence there. She is quite fond of them, a feeling that is reciprocated.
In 1010 LD she opened the Kelly Powder Works, dedicated to making fireworks based on Parish's gunpowder experiments. Alenka Kolchack helped to refine the powder and introduced methods for adding color to the flash. Miranda is currently looking to move the operation off of Foriedy and onto Lazorta to prevent potential disaster from the gunpowder starting a fire.
