The Kitsune's Curse is the result of a long standing feud between the God Surdem and his son Sendall. Surdem refused to allow animal spirits and Fae to pass beyond The Last Gate as these beings were not blessed by the gods. Sendall's efforts to convince his father of the equality of all beings, lead Surdem to mandate that spirits would need to prove themselves worthy through the completion of nearly impossible tasks to receive his blessing. His decree resulted in this Curse, among many others.
When a Kitsune first comes into their powers, whether through birth or blessing, they also manifest the Kitsune's Curse. They must consume 1000 of a specific major organ from intelligent humanoid beings. The organ varies from Kitsune to Kitsune, usually the liver. Some tales indicate that it is the heart. The organ can be freely given (good), harvested from the dead (neutral), or taken by force (evil).
